Anderson County Child Support Attorneys
If two parents are divorcing or otherwise do not live together anymore, they will need to resolve many child-related issues, including child support. Under South Carolina law, both parents have an obligation to support their child, and the family court can issue orders to ensure that each parent is doing their part.
At the law firm of Bradley & Perkins, we believe that all child support orders should be fair for both the payee and payor, and we regularly represent parents in child support matters. If you need assistance with a child support case, reach out to our legal team today.
Child Support Orders
When a court issues child support orders, it is based on guidelines set out in the law. These guidelines take into account the income of each parent, and the parent who earns more generally must pay support to the other parent.
Every situation is different, however, and there are no one-size-fits-all solutions to family law matters. Some situations do not fit within the standard guidelines, and you want a lawyer to ensure your support order is fair under the circumstances. We can raise issues such as a child’s special needs, the voluntary unemployment of one parent (which can result in imputed income), one parent having unusual wealth, and other scenarios.
Child Support Modifications
Circumstances change, and so do the financial resources of parents over time. If you need to modify your support order - either as the payor or payee - you must take certain steps with the family court. We can help you obtain the modification you need or oppose an unjustified modification request.
