Traffic Accidents in Back-to-School Season

When children are returning to school, the roads get far more crowded than they were weeks earlier. Around rush hour, there are school buses on the road and parents in their cars taking their children to learn. At the same time, drivers rushing to work pose extra dangers for other drivers and child passengers.

Every year, there are thousands of school bus accidents throughout the country. There are numerous serious school bus accidents in South Carolina. For example, the 2022 back-to-school season was marred by a gruesome school bus crash in which eight students were injured when the bus flipped on its side. School bus drivers may also be at fault for back-to-school accidents. School districts may hire unqualified drivers, especially in this economy, where there are severe staffing shortages.

School buses and parents on their way to school must share the road with other drivers. Motorists must take care to slow down and obey traffic laws. Otherwise, they may be involved in a traffic accident or strike a child trying to cross the street. Road conditions have changed from just a few weeks before, when there was less traffic on the road.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a traffic accident in this back-to-school season, one of your first calls should be to an experienced lawyer. Your attorney will investigate the cause of the crash and determine whether you can ask for compensation and from whom you may seek it. Then, your lawyer would help you file an insurance claim or a lawsuit in court.
